Who is Mrs. Jacobson?
  • If you don’t know me……Mrs. Jacobson is a Fruitport High School Graduate of the class of 1989.
  • She has a BA degree in Art from Hope College
  • Masters degree from Michigan State University & Aquinas College.   
  • She has  two children & husband who is  a musician and business attorney.
  • She  loves animals and has 3 Australian shepherd dogs and  4 Morgan horses that she loves to show.  
  • Hobbies photography, painting, horseback riding ,   boating & fishing.

Fruitport High School Visual Art Program provides students with a comprehensive academic atmosphere for pursuing advanced study in visual art.
As an artist educator, I strive to ignite a creative spark in each of my students.  Emphasis is put on strengthening one’s visual literacy and the development of a personal visual language as a means of communication.  Students gain insight and hands on experience with art’s effects on cognitive, personal, and social development within each student.
Why Study Art?
​Involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork
